On
the Day
People who
are wanting to be painted should assemble from 9.30am on the Physics
lawn at the University of New South Wales. Enter through the Barker
Street Gate.
You must make
a $2 or more tax deductible donation to the Children's Cancer Institute
Australia. Our Registration team will be there to give you a registration
number. Filling in your Registration Form beforehand will speed
up the process. This ride is capped at 1000 riders so don't come
too late!
If
you have chosen to be painted you will be directed to the paint
stalls where you can undress out of public view.
In
the Paint Stalls
You can take your belongings with you on your bike but a better
option is to take advantage of our luggage service. Put your things
in a plastic bag with your name and phone number clearly written
in marker pen on the outside and we will deliver them to the end
of the ride.
Should you choose
to carry your things, your bag needs to closely match your colour
and must be carried on your luggage rack not on your back.
The
Paintjob – The paint is clay based, chemical
free, UV proof and biodegradable. You will be handed a sponge to
paint your front while one of our trained artists will assist you
with any hard to reach places. It takes about 3-4 minutes for two
of our trained artists to paint a full person. Stand still in row
to dry, don't mix with the other colour groups, if you arrive early
you will have time to affix your own logos and designs to your arms
and legs Jewellery should be taken off during painting.
You will look
amazing!
Ride
Route
- Assembly begins
from 9.30am at the University of New South Wales.

- We register you and send you through the paint stalls.
- A short prize
giving Ceremony will be held beginning at 11.00am.
- We ride off
at 12pm.
We ride within
one lane in our colour groups, at a steady pace set by our Silver
Marshals. This is a promotional, artistic parade, not a protest,
please keep to your position in the ride. Obey instructions from
Police and Marshals.
No overtaking,
no running traffic lights. When the procession breaks up at intersections,
just follow your Colour Group Leader. We will regroup in Marine
Parade before the final descent into Maroubra.
12.30pm
Once we arrive at the 'Arthur Byrne Reserve' we will park our bicycles
and then reassemble in our colour groups beside the South Maroubra
Surf Life Saving Club. We will then march into the sea in procession.
The Route is
easy and we will ride slow, so even if you haven't ridden a bike
for a while you will make it! Children are welcome to attend, the
ride moves slowly enough for people to jump off their bike and push
it up hills if necessary.
