Rules of the Ride

1. All Riders must wear budgie smugglers, G-strings or brief bikini bottoms as a bare minimum. Artistic decorations are encouraged. Riders may wear whatever they wish but may not ride in the nude. Only painted riders are required to wear briefs.

2. Respect others personal space.

3. Positivity – Be happy. Choose to ignore negatives. Smile at everyone.

4. Laugh – It really is very funny

5. Photography – Be polite and ask first. Don’t stop to take photos when the ride is moving, the procession will halt at intersections and you can take a quick snap then.

Remember that the misuse of images from this ride will be prosecuted vigorously. To be safe, check with us first. Any use of images of this event must be cleared with SBAR officials. Photos are allowed for personal use only.

6. Don’t disrupt traffic – All riders must stay within one lane at all times. Do not pull into oncoming traffic. Our aim is not to annoy anyone. This is not a Critical Mass style ride, the organisers of this event support Critical Mass, but this ride is an Artistic procession not a protest against car use.

7. Road Safety – You must wear an appropriate safety helmet and footwear, all bicycles must be roadworthy. This is for your own safety. Riders are reminded that during the ride they are subject to all applicable road rules. People riding dangerously or without helmets may be removed from the ride by Police.

Stop at all traffic lights and intersections. Do NOT follow your group or team across oncoming traffic or against a red light.

8. People collecting sponsorship must have a Letter of Authority from: Samantha Birmingham at the Childrens Cancer Institute Australia
by e-mail: sbirmingham@ccia.org.au or Ph (02) 9382 0064 in order to obtain your Letter of Authority. This will enable you to collect funds on behalf of the CCIA.

9. Courtesy – Be nice. Be polite. Save your pick up lines for the after party. Just because someone smiled at you doesn’t mean he or she wants to talk to you. Don’t be rude to Police or car drivers. This is a rule. You are required to be polite as per a normal workplace.

10. Alcohol is not permitted at any part of this event.

11. Speed – this is a ride not a race. We will be riding at a steady pace set by the marshals. The speed will be slow enough for children and those who are not regular cyclists.

Should the procession be broken up by traffic lights etc you are NOT to chase or attempt to rejoin the procession, just continue at a normal pace.

You are not to overtake other riders unless they have stopped due to some difficulty. Allow the repair crew to assist them, stay in your allotted position.

12. Position – If you are one of our registered, painted riders you will be part of a living, moving artwork. It is essential you ride in the position allotted to you by the Captain of your Colour Group.

13. Captains and Marshals – Please follow their instructions, they are volunteers like you. Your Captain will be able to direct you to repair crews or first aid if you should require it. If someone does hassle you then please allow our marshals to deal with the situation. Don’t get involved in arguments.

14. After the ride – When we arrive at Maroubra Beach all riders wishing to swim must comply with beach regulations and the instructions of council inspectors. I.E. swim between the flags and don’t throw your butts on the sand. If the Beach is closed due to unsafe conditions you are NOT to enter the water.

Please Note:

Alcohol is not permitted at the Beach or in the reserve.

All riders are to use the South end of Maroubra Beach

Please take care getting home. Ride home with a friend or a group of riders.

All judges decisions during the prize giving ceremony are final, no dispute will be entered into.

All riders participate only if they agree to abide by these rules. People breaking these rules will be barred from future events.
